I am on a quest. A quest for good health and balanced diet-with moderation. A quest to change the way my family and I eat. To prevent illness and disease. To have QUALITY of life.

I've been looking and reading different things for a while now. Somehow, about 3 years ago, I stumbled onto greensmoothiegirl.com. I have followed it ever since and put my foot in the door little by little. I read "The Green Smoothie Diet" and started green smoothies at that time- I have gone through phases of having green smoothies/not having green smoothies. Recently, I purchased an EXPENSIVE,( totally cool) blender, and, after using it for smoothies again, I am more and more convinced than ever that changes need to be made. I have a hard time envisioning the balance I need to gain. I'm not willing to totally give up meat and my love of baking. Besides the fact that my family is mostly not on the same page as me with this. But I know that I can mostly give it up.

I decided to purchase the "8 Week Planner" from Green Smoothie Girl and was surprised at how much I already do. I guess I never realized how deeply immersed in this I already was! So I've decided to give it a try for 8-weeks. This is my record of successes and, mostly likely, some failures. I’m taking a risk here letting this blog be public. Please be nice.

More About Me:

I’m a mother of 6 (8 if you count the exchange students, 9/7 if you count my sweet husband.) Ages 10, 9, 6, 4, 2, 8 weeks (my husband is 41, I am 40). We are all healthy by regular standards. My husband and I could stand to lose weight. Me about 40 pounds and him about 30. I’m not in this to lose weight although it would be nice. I’m in this to be healthy- to prevent diabetes (which runs on both sides) for myself, my husband, and my children. I’m in this to prevent or improve any other chronic awful things that could be headed our way as my husband and I age.
